Default Face to Face text files in a Word document - suitable headers

Hi,
I have two text files, about 50 pages each, they are translation of each other.
How to have them in the same page, face to face, and be able to create/edit page headers as well.
OR,
Have these two files in two tables/sections, upper and lower on the page? In other word formatting the new page in two tables/sections, upper and lower.

Please keep in mind that I am using Word 2016 and Windows 7.
Thanks
Henry

I would do this by selecting the text in both docs and Convert to Table. Then I would add a second (empty) column to each. Then copy the data column from one file to the empty column of the other file.

This will give you a two column table with the contents from both files side by side. If you are lucky enough that the paragraph counts in both files match then you won't need to fiddle with alignment.

Thanks for replying,
I tried your approach and it doesn't seem to work. However, I inserted two tables (in line) then copied each texts to these two tables. Now the issue is that how do I create page headers, it doesn't allow me!

Copying the text inside the table will likely result in different lengths of columns so that one language finishes well before the other and content on pages doesn't align for the polyglots. But if it works for you then that is fine.

Page Headers won't be impacted by the table at all. Are you talking about Table Headers or Page Headers?

Page Headers are a different issue from Table Header Rows .

Both would be applicable to your project.

In Page Headers, the default is to have a center tab and a right tab set in the Header style. For one column you could simply type and for the other press a tab before. If needed, you could insert a Table. If using Page Headers, see StyleRef Field to insert text from the body of your document dynamically in the headers.
You may want to look at Using Headers and Footers by Suzanne Barnhill, MVP.

In the future, in this forum, when you need to change what you are asking about, please start a new thread. That will get you the best answers and make it easier for others using the forum to find information helpful to them.
Here you started out asking about inserting two text files side by side and now you are asking about headers. It is the same project for you, but it is a different subject for the forum.

Charles, thank you for taking time and replying to this inquiry.

First- it was a good reminder to separate questions. however, I did mention on my original question about page headers (Headers/Footers/page numbering).

I read materials that you referred me to, but it didn't appear useful for my issue, may be I am missing a part. so i am going to open a new inquiry under Page Headers for tables title.
