I want to create a document of a few hundred pages, where continuous line numbers appear on the left and right of the page. Below is an example of what I want to achieve. How can I do this in word? I am using word 2016, but if necessary I can upgrade to a newer version if it makes things easier. Or maybe there is a macro that can enable this feature?

There is no built-in automatic method.
You could create textboxes containing the numbering and place them in the header. You would need to fiddle with alignment. |
