HEADER help without changing back to Page 1
Hi, I type court transcripts. Page 1 has no header. I start with a header on Page 2 of either "OPENING STATEMENT," or, "INDEX/EXHIBIT PAGE," and then if I swear in a witness on Page 5, for example, I have to change the header to the witness' name and direct examination. Example: J. DOE - DIRECT BY MR. TELL. How do I continue to change headers through my document without wiping out all the headers I've altered and it going all the way back to Page 2 again? I have followed these steps and they don't work: Go to Line 1 on the page where you want the new header to appear. Go to the very first character:
Example: I walked to the store. Put cursor right on the "I." Click on Layout. Click Break. Click Next Page. Now click Insert. Click Header. Click Edit Header. Click Link to Previous (to unlink the headers.) Change the header to what I want it to say. Click close header. Any help is appreciated. I'm using Windows 365 newest Office version. |

The first two are key.
The StyleRef field can make the content of the header change to match content in the document without actually making any change to what is in the header. The field's contents change. The third is a bit of a head spinner but important. Headers and footers are parts of sections and each section can have three of each. The fourth may not be applicable to your question. |
