I have a very large Word doc. It's the manuscript of a book. Word is running in a laptop running Windows 10 with 16 GB of memory.
Every now and then I get a popup saying Word has insufficient memory. (see attached). Is there a way to make Word access more of the available ram on the laptop? Thank you. |

That error message, I believe, is somewhat generic. It seems to pop up for errors other than memory.
No, there is no way to get Word to use more memory. Workaround: When you get this message, make a backup copy and then go for it. Do you have Track Changes turned on? |

You are showing your options, but not whether it is turned on.
Look at your Status Bar for the Track Changes. If it is turned on, save your document and save a copy. Then, in the copy, try turning track changes off and accepting all changes. Track changes in a large document can give a tremendous amount of overhead. |
