What is the character that looks like a back arrow with a hook on it, and acts like a paragraph mark? (see attached).




I get these showing up often when I copy text. I want to eliminate them and can't figure out how to search for them. Can't paste them in the search field and can't find a character that matches them.

It is the symbol for a line break. Search for ^l

Thanks, but where on the keyboard do I find your "upside down" V? Tried the one which is cap 6, didn't work. Is there another character that goes with it like a capital "i" (cap eye)? Tried to paste yours and didn't work. Thx.

Type Alt+94 in the Find What box. Then type a lowercase “l” character.

The one above the 6 should work. Do you have a non-English keyboard?

Not sure what Alt+94 does (even on Mac)

By typing Alt+94, you insert the HTML entity whose Unicode reference name is "CIRCUMFLEX ACCENT", or "SPACING CIRCUMFLEX".

Thanks for the explanation, but doesn't work on my Mac. I get ª¢ when I type Alt and 94. If I try to add the +, it gives gibberish.

The "+" in "Alt+94" means “at the same time”, i.e. press the Alt key, hold it down, ant type 94 on the numeric pad. But this is on Windows. I believe the Windows “Alt” key is called the “Option” key on a Mac. You might want to have a look at How to find and insert special characters in macOS | Macworld
