Default Referencing List Position

As an item on a numbered list, I would like to have, “37. Paragraphs 1 through N are incorporated by reference.” where N = ListNum - 1, and it auto updates as lines are added or deleted. Is it possible to do this?

Thanks.

Yes.

Bookmark the ListNum. I.e., name the bookmark "lastNumber."

Paragraphs 1 through { = { lastNumber } - 1 } are incorporated by reference.

The field delimiter braces { } cannot be typed. They must be inserted in pairs using Ctrl+F9.

Default Hmm

I get -1. I'm guessing because lastNumber is 0.

I haven't used bookmarks before, so maybe I'm doing that part wrong? I'm bookmarking by left clicking on the paragraph number. Because it's a numbered list, all of the list numbers are highlighted light grey, and the paragraph number I clicked on is dark grey. I then Click Insert Bookmark from the ribbon and a Bookmark dialog comes up, and I name it.

Any guess as to what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks.

You bookmark the last ListNum field. That will be the number of the current phrase. It must be selected to place it in a bookmark.

Once you have this, you could select it and save it as AutoText.
