I haven't used OneDrive for shared concurrent editing so I don't have a suggestion there but I wouldn't think having macros in the document itself is a great idea. Is there a reason you don't have the macros in a template which is shared by the users? Doing so would enable you to save the file as a docx and perhaps avoid the issue you are experiencing.
