Building Blocks.dotx where is it in office 365? want to move it
Hi
I made many Auto Text in Building Blocks and now would like to copy it to another computer. Have windows 10 pro, MS Office 365 In windows explorer, the "show hidden files" is checked yet I can't find the file. The most I'm able to find is a "shortcut" located at: Target: "C:\Users\pgg15\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Docu ment Building Blocks\1033\16\Building Blocks.dotx" Start in: "C:\Users\pgg15\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Docu ment Building Blocks\1033\16" When I try to open the file/shortcut I get a message saying to make sure the file exist and to check the path. Thank you |

c:\Users\{your username}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Document Building Blocks\1033\
Building Blocks.dotx is in a hidden system folder. If your Start menu has a search function searching for %APPDATA% will lead you toward the folder. The folder 1033 is for English(US). Where can Building Blocks be stored? You are looking in the correct location. Do you have your Windows set to display system folders? Is your default proofing language English-US? That is the 1033 part of that address. You could redefine your building blocks in the Organizer to be stored in a different template. |

Show hidden files and folders is set to Yes
if I put "Show hidden files and folders" in the search bar (taskbar) it takes me directly to the settings which shows hidden files should be visible.
I see up to: c:\Users\{your username}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\ in there is a few folders but not building blocks or 1033 You mention i could save in a different template? I only see 2 options to save either building blocks or Normal. Can I add a new template, but still, would I be able to see it if I can't see the default files? |

Solved
Issue possibly due to my PC being refurbished. The old IT dept at the company probably hid/deleted files and MicroSoft certified techs did not fix all the issues.
Solution in 2 steps: First I added the part of the path that was missing, so to: User/(user name)/AppData/Roaming/Microsoft I added: /Document Building Blocks/1033/16 Second, I still could not see the files, but when I saved a NewBlocksProject.dotx file to that folder the Building Blocks.dotx and Buil-in Building Blocks.dotx became visible. So I right click on them and saved them to a thumb-drive. However I had saved my new blocks created in Quick Parts into NewBlocksProject.dotx so added this file to the User/(user name)/AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/Document Building Blocks/1033/16 folder on my second computer and now I have my new blocks available there also. Note: the show hidden files and folders, is set to "show" |

This may be due to your IT department, or it may be due to Microsoft's penchant for hiding things from us to keep us out of trouble.
What I was saying is that the Building Blocks folder is in a language-dependent folder. 1033 is the folder for English-US. |
