Default Drag & Drop Picture to Replace

I'm creating a Word template for reports that repeat the task of writing a statement and inserting pictures. To reduce the amount of time it takes to write the reports, I want to drag and drop pictures from a file folder into a placeholder. However, I can't find any way to do that.

I've tried Picture Content Controls, but that only lets you click to select an image location which is too slow when it's repeated 50-100 times.

Anyone have any ideas?

You can put a pre-sized Frame into your template to hold the picture. When you paste or drop a picture into it, it will resize to fit the Frame.
Note that this kind of Frame is a structural element in a Word document not a visual element.

As you have discovered, picture CCs won't allow you to drag and drop.

I would use a Table Cell as the placeholder instead - you can drag and drop into a table cell and the graphic will scale itself to NOT exceed the table cell width.

You need to ensure that the cursor is in the table cell BEFORE your drag and drop from Windows Explorer though because there is odd behaviour involved with drag and drop. When you drag the graphic file into a Word document you get a visual indication of where the graphic 'should' drop but it actually ignores that and the image goes where the cursor was LAST sitting in the document.
