Default When comparing an original and revised word document, I am getting an unusual output compared doc

Normally, when I compare two word docs, it spits out a "clean redline" that I can make comments on, etc.

With this specific issue when comparing these specific docs, I cannot see comments. I have attempted changing views and playing around with every tab possible. It doesn't Is there anything I am missing here? I have attached an example of what I am describing.
