words underlined in red can not be added to the dictionary
When I right click over the word and select in the menu to add to the dictionary, the cursor just slides to the end of the word and does not add it to the dictionary. this seems to just be happening as of today. also, words I have added to the dictionary, keep coming back underlined the next day. it doesn't make sense. thanks for helping.

You can only add words to the custom dictionary if the language of the custom dictionary is the same as the proofing language associated with the word you are trying to add. Check the languages match or set your default dictionary to all languages. File> Options > Proofing > Custom Dictionary
