Default How to delete extra space (between lines)?

I need some help with the extra lines between text (see attached image). I have documents of up to 100 pages with many empty space between and have no clue how to remove it, I already tried everything.

Find&Replace--> Find: [Special (drop down list at bottom) - Manual Line Break]
--> Replace: null
--> hit Replace all

I've already tried this, but it doesn't work. It says no results found.

Find and replace with Wildcards option ticked
Find: ^13{2,}
Replace: ^13

Did you tick the 'Use Wildcards' option? You might have to click on the More>> button to see it.

Well it works fine for me. Can you confirm your replace dialog looks exactly like this?

When I use { and }, I get an error message. And when I use ( and ) it says no results found.

I also want to add that I want to apply it to the whole document. Some are up to 100 pages long and doing everything manual just takes way too much time.

The only reason I can think of for this not to work on your machine is if you are using a non-English version of Word or Windows. Is that the case?

Try the same replace dialog with Wildcards turned off and
Find: ^p^p
Replace: ^p
This finds two consecutive returns and replaces it with one. You will need to do a Replace All multiple times because this halves the number of instances each time.

Yes, I'm using the dutch version.


This one does also not work.

In the English version you can turn on wildcards and then choose Special > Num Occurrences to get the correct syntax for the element inside the {}. What do you see on your Dutch version?

If the Non-wildcard method doesn't reduce your paragraph marks then I am running out of ideas. In English the ^p appears if I select Special>Paragraph Mark. Do you get a different combination on a Dutch machine?
