Last Page Only Footer
Hi all
I have a Word document that contains a table with a variable number of rows (populated by raising an invoice on Xero accounting software). In the footer is another table which is fixed i.e. cannot vary in rows. When an invoice is created, if there aren't many rows it works just fine and won't overlap the footer table, if however the invoice is long it will go onto two pages (which is fine) but the footer just 'disappears' underneath the variable table and doesn't show on the second page in the footer. I've tried entering: "If page = numpages " - without quotes Highlight page, press Ctrl F9. Highlight numpages , press Ctrl F9 Add a quote after numpages Add an end quote below the variable table Select all of footer, press Ctrl F9 It then looks like this: Code:
{ If 1 = 1 " table is here " } Not sure what I'm missing / doing wrong but any help would be hugely appreciated! I've had a look at this post but don't fully understand - this 'code' stuff is new to me: https://www.msofficeforums.com/word/...t-working.html I'm running Microsoft 2013. Thank you!! |

The field structure should look like
{ IF { PAGE } = { NUMPAGES } "Table is here" } where each pair of brackets is created with CTRL + F9.

Thank you Graham, it now looks like this:
{ If { page } = { numpages } " table is here "} I've tried this with a short and long invoice but the footer isn't showing at all on the invoice? Possibly something needs correcting with the table properties? |

Any chance that you restart numbering at some point in your document (i.e. "front matter" before you start numbering)?
Perhaps a note or cover letter with the invoice? Those pages would count in the NUMPAGES field but not in the PAGE field and the two would never be equal. |

Hi Charles
Not sure I fully understand (I'm not a pro with Word!) but you may have pointed me in the right direction... I clicked into the header and clicked 'Remove Page Numbers' under the Header & Footer section of the toolbar - this has solved the missing footer for invoices that are short, but for long invoices that go onto a second page the footer is still missing? |

You can always post a sample document here.
How to attach a screenshot or file in this forum. |

The problem with the invoice document is that you have the different first page option set. You will have to insert a temporary page break and copy the footer from the first page footer range to the primary footer range. Then you can delete the temporary page break. If the document stretched to more than one page the footer will now appear only on the last page.

این بدون شک صحیح است ، اما به سختی به مشکل موجود مربوط است

Hi gmayer,
I've tried what you suggested, I think, but it's not working - I probably did something wrong. Are you able to correct the document I previously attached or provide steps as to how to accomplish your above post? Thank you and sorry to be a pain! |

Provided you don't insert any section breaks, the attached will work.

Hi gmayer,
This has worked beautifully - thank you! Still one issue though I put it through the invoice software and for a short invoice it has the correct text in the footer but for a long invoice (which now correctly shows the footer on the last page) it shows the "Text here" example in the document I previously attached even though I've overwritten it? Not sure how to correct this. Thank you for all your help |

If you insert a page break (Layout tab) in your original one page document, you will have access to both the first page footer and the primary footer, which is where the long document footer resides. Make your changes to the primary footer then remove the page break (Ctrl+H > find ^m replace with nothing).

Or, while on the first page, uncheck the option for different first page. Make your changes, then check the box again.
