You can select the area where you would want it revealed and use Ctrl+Shift+H again to toggle or Ctrl+SpaceBar to remove direct formatting.
Again, you can use the headings to collapse large areas of text in separate paragraphs. |

Building on Charles' suggestion, perhaps a character style for the show/no show text? I'm imagining changing the definition from hidden to not hidden would then hide/show the styled text.
