Default mystery number in style definition

I'm trying to change the colour in a paragraph style; that's all. Word gives me the mysterious warning "The number must be between 1 and 600". What number? All I'm trying to do is set the custom colour as RGB 60,60,60 …

Advice welcome!

How are you making the change?
i.e., Are you using Modify Style > Font > Color within Word or are you using vba?

When typing in those boxes it is easy to add what you are typing to what is already in the box creating a number that is out of bounds unintentionally.
