Enter big textbox that does not change text around it
Hello, I am new here and I have to make a template that others can enter information into and then save. I have the template layout of what I want it to look like attached. I converted this from a PDF do a doc. using Adobe DC. Now I want to put text boxes in the blank spaces for people to type in and lock everything else. I cant adjust the text box size without disrupting the text around it. Please help me get the textbox size the same size as the blank spaces! Thank you, Lexi |

First, converted documents make for very tough editing.
You would be better off converting to a jpg and placing that behind text. Then place a borderless table on top to hold your form fields. "Text box," in Word jargon, means a graphical element. This is not what you mean. See: |

Oh, I did not know converted files make it harder to edit. That stinks because it was so easy to convert.
Thanks for the advice I am going to try that! I was referring to a choice on the developer tab where it says "Text Box" I do not know Word jargon I guess ha ha. Thanks for your help, Lexi |

The only "Text Box" named as such on the Developer Tab is the legacy ActiveX control. You do NOT want to be using that without very specific reasons.

Yes thats the one I'm referring to! The reason that I need to use that is because this is a word doc template that I am programming excel to populate with data. Is there a different way to do that other than the ActiveX
Thanks |

I do very little vba in Excel.
You can reach both Content Controls and legacy form fields in the Word object model. Content Controls can have tags and form fields can be given bookmark names. ActiveX is very old technology. Among other problems is that it does not work on Mac platforms. "Template," in Word jargon, is a very specialized tool. Templates in Microsoft Word Word templates have a lot of power. The meaning in Word is both more and less than in standard English. |

ahh I see. How would you recommend I make a template that looks similar to the template that I converted...? I want all the same information but not have to use text boxes because that does not work for excel. Do you think it would be a hard task to make a template like this for a beginner? And do you have any tutorial pages that could help me?
Thanks Charles |

My recommendations were in the first link I provided: Making Forms with Microsoft Word.
You do not want text boxes because that does not work for Excel? Are you wanting a Word template? |
