How do I remove [enter]s in copied doc?
Hello. I cut and pasted a PDF document into a new Word document. The preparer did not continuously type, but instead hit "enter" at the end of each line, so that now my document has many lines with only one word in them. How do I delete all those carriage returns? Thanks anyone!

If you want to remove carriage returns (i.e. replace carriage return with backspace) do a Find & Replace where Find is '^l' and Replace is ' ' (without quotes). If you want to replace the paragraph marks (i.e. those after hitting enter) use ^p instead of ^l
Hope this helps Dario |

Thanks so much! I tried Find and Replace but put the wrong character in Find. I've never even noticed the | mark on the keyboard before! Thank you.

I should have tried it before I responded. When I type ^| into "Find", it says that the search item was not found. What now????

This is the answer for your problem:
Use Find and Replace Write in Find what: ([!^13])(^13)([!^13]) Write in Replace with: \1\3 Check Use wildcard Click Replace All |

Thanks, I'll try that.
I did finally get Find: ^p and Replace with ' ' to work. |

You can use Ctrl+* to enable and disable the newline paragraph option etc.,

Thanks!
Thank you for this tip , using
Find: '^p' and Replace with ' ' really did the job. It took a while to register to that forum , i hope the supervisors make it register with the Facebook account or google or something easier. |
