Question Are autocorrect entries automatically added when you accept a suggestion

Has there been a change in policy concerning this? My memory is fuzzy. I'm pretty sure that entries got added when you right-clicked an underlined word and chose the correction off the list, so that when you typed the same thing it would be replaced by that correction. That doesn't happen anymore. And when I look at the autocorrect entries list to verify the correction doesn't get added.
Possibly it is a personal bug rather than an update.

It works for the dictionary (that is, when instead of choosing a correction you click "Add to dictionary"), i.e. the autocorrect exception entries, though.

This has come up recently in the Microsoft Community as well.

Generally, picking a suggestion given by Word's spellchecker will not change anything more than the particular error you are correcting at that particular moment.

There is an option in the AutoCorrect dialog box ("Use suggestions from the spelling checker") which may add the spelling error and its replacement as a new AutoCorrect entry. It has been suggested (by MVP Suzanne S. Barnhill) that this only works when there is a single suggestion available from the spellchecker.

... and, if that option is turned on, it is not triggered by accepting a suggestion from the spelling checker.
