Default When adding chapters to a bk, how to create a duplicate of an existing ch to make another behind it?

If I have a chapter already made, and wish to create copies of it having the exact same parameters so as to easily add more chapters behind it, how can this be done. I have formatted the chapter just as I want it. I want to make another of the same behind it, then delete the text in it and add the fresh text for the new chapter.

I can highlight the entire existing chapter with ctrl-a, then copy it ctrl-c, and then create a new page as a new section and paste the chapter into that. But is there an easier or more efficient way to do it? Say, using the navigation window for example? I tried right clicking on the chapter name in the navigation pane, but did not see any option for copy or create duplicate.

The correct way to do this and the way that will make future editing easier is to create paragraph styles for the different formats you use and then apply them to your texts. Then creating new chapters is simply a matter of applying the styles as you type. You can use building blocks for the headers and footers as they will be the constants in a book.

Sure yes, I understand and you are correct I know. Nonetheless, if you can help by replying to my query it will be very useful to my immediate work.

Create a new minimal chapter with all the components that you need. Select it all and go to Insert > Quick Parts > Save Selection to Quick Parts Gallery. Give it a name like NewChapter.

Now any time you want a new chapter, go to this Quick Parts button and choose it from the list.

@ Guessed:
That is great, thank you!
The window for creating the Quick Part and saving to Gallery, has under Options 3 choices:
1. Insert content only
2. Insert content in its own para
3. Insert content in its own page

For the purpose I have expressed--that of creating a new chapter-- which of the above 3 would I opt for?

But...
Do take the time now to learn about styles if you are writing a book!
Doing this will save you untold time and angst.
Importance of Styles in Word

Adding to that comment. If you are writing a book using Word, you owe it to yourself to learn more about how to use this very powerful program so that it helps you rather than blocks you. Basic Concepts of Microsoft Word - from Shauna Kelly
Word is NOT a simple program and it is not intuitive.

Either of the first two options are fine. The 'own page' option is suitable for covers but might result in extra issues if you are using the Building Block for other purposes.
