I do not know what is happening.
As a workaround, try saving your AutoText in a different template that is loaded as a Global Template from the Word Startup Folder. As a start, you could rename your old file that contains your AutoTexts something else and store it there. |

Well, I hit a brick wall…nothing I was trying worked. I encountered another issue with computer, using OS 10.11 and could not update it to the newest update…computer not compatible with the new OS!!! I have purchased a new computer and the Mac store is transferring data for me (should be it back tomorrow). I am anxious to learn if I will be able to restore my "normal" from the back up!!! I need the newer system to upgrade my Microsoft (2016) because in September it will not longer be covered by support and/or updates.
I do NOT want to lose my custom dictionary, auto correct, keyboard shortcuts, etc. Of course, it would be wonderful if all the Auto Texts are back!!! Any advice for me to do prior to opening the new Office 365? |

I have good/bad news. Although bad news that I had to buy a new computer…the good news is that after I got it back, I bought new version of MS Office and downloaded it. I then opened the "normal" file from my back up drive…all the Auto Texts were there. As in the past, I changed an autotext and then closed Word. I held my breath because, in the past, when Word closed, all the autotexts were gone…even new ones I created.
VOILA!!! The autotexts are recovered!!! Soooo, guess it was a computer issue…not a MS Word issue?? |
