Default hide text on screen not only the printing

Hi, I want to hide a part of my document in Word365 (Control+Shift+H). The hidden text is underlined with dots, but I can still see it on screen.
The number of pages has not changed. The printing is okay. The hidden text is gone and the number of pages correct.
What can I do, in order to hide the text also on screen?
In the next step I want to hide text bei vba, using bookmarks. But I think it first should work without vba.
Thanks a lot.
Lutz, Germany

Default

File>Options > Display - uncheck Hidden Text
and with VBA
Code:
ActiveWindow.View.ShowHiddenText = Not ActiveWindow.View.ShowHiddenText
will toggle the display.

Manually, this setting is under File > Options > Display.

When you have triggered display of hidden formatting marks (i.e. to see paragraph marks) that will override the setting.
Clicking on that paragraph mark is the equivalent of checking all of the options temporarily.

Thanks to both of you...
The second answer solved my problem.
Formatting characters were turned on for me, so the hide-text-command didn't work.
Thanks again and have a nice day.
