Word 2016 Spell check
I am current with Widows 10 and Word 2016
All of a sudden Word Spell Check is not working. I have not changed any of the settings under Proofing. I reloaded Office 2016 but it did not resolve the issue of Spell Check |

"not working" doesn't give us a lot to work with. Are you referring to real-time spell check? Or Review > Spelling & Grammar?
What kind of file are you working with? Sometimes spell check doesn't work with tables and or mail merged documents. Details, details, details! |

If you mean that obviously misspelled words are not being flagged...
Select one of those words and check the language setting for that word under the Review tab. If it says "do not check spelling or grammar" uncheck that. Then select all (Ctrl-A) and clear that box for everything. If problem recurs, see Spelling Checker Does Not Work! - Proofing Language Keeps Changing - Solutions |

2016 Word
I am using the basics of Word 2016. Nothing fancy This started a couple days ago. I have not made any changes of any kind to Word, Widows 10, etc. I have no idea what is causing this.
As I mentioned the issue is that Word 2016 is not recognizing Spell Check on the File, Options, Proofing. So I am hoping you could resolve this issue. If not is there a toll free phone number for Microsoft Help and is their Help free. Microsoft virtual Help did not have an answer. I reloaded Word 2016 but it did not resolve the issue. |

2016 Word Proofing Language
I forgot to mention that the proofing Language is English and the Do not check spelling or grammar is not checked

If "Detect language automatically" is selected in the Language dialog box (Review > Language > Set Proofing Language), you should turn it off. That setting makes Word guess the language at the insertion point as you type, and the guesses are often unsuccessful. If you select all the text in the document and (re-)apply English and also clear the check box next to "Do not check spelling or grammar," then are you able to check the spelling again?

Reinstall word 2016
I know you have some ideas on how to correct the Spell Check but I thought I would just start all over. I have not made any changes to Word 2016 settings for years. I removed 2016 Word for Widows 10, 64 bit off my laptop. I see all the word documents are on my laptop but they are not valid.
Could you give me the steps to reinstall 2016 Word. We cannot do anything until 2016 Word is installed. Hopefully that will resolve my issue. I tried to find the steps on the internet but nothing made any since including Microsoft downloads. |

Reinstalling Office won't affect the language formatting applied to text.

Installing Word is simply a matter of running the installation program and entering the license key when prompted. What part of the installation process is giving you trouble?

Resolved Word 2016 Spell Check
As mentioned I have not made any changes to Word 2016 in years. So the advice given to resolve Spell Check was not relevant. I was able to reinstall Word 2016 after I found the steps on internet sites. Most internet sites recommended that if you have not made any changes to do a reinstall. Most often a reinstall will fix issues. The reinstall fixed my Word 2016 Spell Check problem.
