Angry Word 2016 Style Problems - It is too much trouble to learn how to use styles.

I have problems with styles in Microsoft Word 2016.

I have created a custom macro-enabled template with a custom file name that is in a custom folder in the "My Documents" folder of my computer.
I have made several custom styles, some of which are unique and some of which are used by the normal template of Word 2016.

In several documents that have been explicitly created from the custom macro-enabled template that I have created, I have created and modified many styles with names used in the normal template of Word 2016.

  1. Now, when I create a new document from my custom macro-enabled Word 2016 template I cannot use a style that I created in other documents based on the same macro-enabled Word 2016 template and for which I have consistently ticked to make available in the custom macro-enabled Word 2016 template that I use to create these documents, i.e. the style is added to the template of the file.
  2. The style name is greyed out in Microsoft Word, so I cannot apply it. I can delete the style, but I cannot create it because "the style name already exists or is reserved for a built-in style."Do I need to edit the normal template and explicitly delete the style from there and then recreate the style within the custom macro-enabled Word 2016 template that I have created? How do I know that the style will be available in future documents that I create from the macro-enabled Word 2016 template?
  3. Is there an easy way to explicitly remove any and all normal template styles from a custom style such that Word 2016 can only use styles that I have explicitly created in the single template that the document is attached or with which is associated?
WTF am I doing wrong?
