copy paste webp image from internet to word fails to appear
Hi,
Word 2010 images on internet are also appearing as the .webp type as well as jpg and png, I can right click copy a jpg and paste into word, it appears, but do that for a .webp and nothing appears. As it is I have to install a plugin for photoshop to view and save .webp, so what do I need to get MS word 2010 to show them ? I also see that windows explorer wont show the image either, I have now installed the WebpCodec for windows and explorer shows the images for webp but alas pasting from internet into Msoft word still shows a blank area. I have googled paste show webp images into word and there is absolutely nothing on this except how to convert word to webp, which is not what I am trying to do, I simply want to view webp in a word document in the time honored copy paste from webpage to word workflow. I can never remember a tutorial page on this or that, and dont have a second monitor to view the tutorial on whilst training to it, so copy text and images into word to refer to. highlight a page and copy paste it to word and got it, or copy text then image then text etc and resize image so as to fit A4, then print it off without all the other stuff that uses up expensive ink. Better practice is to Save Image As to your computer and Insert the picture in Word rather than simply paste.

I hadn't heard of the webp image file type before and haven't seen it in Word. Perhaps you can find a filter to allow you to use that image type on Microsoft's website.
In the absence of that, I would be converting the images to either PNG or JPG. Here is info to help you do that How to Save Google’s WEBP Images As JPEG or PNG

Hi, the process of copy paste text then image then text then image to capture a webpage tutorial or article is FAST. but if I have to go through a process of converting the webp to jpg, saving it and so on, then browsing to the saved image opening it, i find if I open it in pshop then copy paste it to word it wont show, word does not like pshop jpgs, but likes jpgs copy pasted from the website. This will turn a 1 minute process into half an hour and certainly destroy progress and speed . I need a quick right click copy , then in word edit paste, its worked for the past 30yrs, then along comes google and causes this trouble.
Msoft dont have a thing for webp for word, hence posting here. all I found on google was how to convert word to webp ! I tried to find an emal address to ask Msoft but they hide from the world. DBenz. |

As I hadn't seen this image format before, I just tried a copy paste from this page WebP - Wikipedia
The graphic shows up in my version of Word without any special activities. Looking at the file contents, it appears to save natively in Word in PNG format so I'm not sure whether it was actually a PNG that Wikipedia says is a webp. Can you test copy the house image from that wikipedia page?
