Default hey guys, need to edit a certain part of a word file but its greyed out

Hey Guys and Gals,

I am in need of help. English isn’t my first language, so I’ll start with a story on my predicament.

Prick of a manager was told by the Head of Department to redo the whole Sales and Marketing Manual. So far what he did was copy and pasted all the info from the old manual to the old one and left the parts that need “actual brain power” to me. Oh, he left for a holiday and the manual is due in 2 days.

My problem is, the new and incomplete work he has done so far is read-only protected and has a header with the “authored and prepared by: No good manager” greyed out. Hence I am unable to add in my name there as well.

So, my question is, how do I “un-grey” the header so I can edit my name into it as well?

I have right-clicked the unopen word file to see if the “read only” box is checked, but it is not.

My appraisal is coming and this would play a big part of it. Unfortunately, this manager is known to be the “glory hogger” type.

Thanks.

PS: By no means am I going to cancel out his name, just want to realize he aint getting credit for the bigger chunk of the work.
