Put back in order my titles
Hi!
I have few titles that I want to put back in order. Is it possible to do so? Thanks Didi |

1. either type the chapter numbers or use the numbering button. Right now there is a mix.
2. Correct the spelling of each title and the spacing 3. select all of the chapter titles and press the sort under home tab - paragraphs 4. update the TOC I'm not why but I had to select the entire TOC and toggle field codes twice to get it to look right. |

Page 1 ends with a Next Page Section Break. That Next Page Section Break is associated with the Heading 1 style. You won’t get proper numbering unless and until you reassociate that Next Page Section Break with the Normal style.
It would also be preferable to associate a list format with the Heading 1 style. That list format could have “Chapter” as its automatic textual part. HTH |

It might be very confusing but… in Word 2007, if I place the insertion cursor next to the paragraph end mark associated with the Next Page Section Break on page 1 of that document, the Style toolbar on the Ribbon says “Heading 1”.
Note that the paragraph end mark associated with that Next Page Section Break cannot be removed on its own. It is an integral part of the Next Page Section Break. Removing that paragraph end mark also removes the Next Page Section Break. |

Usually, when you are working with a table of contents and section breaks, the easiest solution is to display nonprinting marks, for example by clicking the ¶ icon on the Home tab. Also, press Alt+F9 (or Alt+Fn+F9 on some keyboards) to display field codes. Add an extra paragraph mark, by pressing Enter, so that you separate the TOC field from the following paragraph. You can now apply the Normal style to the text paragraphs, if you wish, and you can more easily delete the section break.

Yes, the section break was part of a Heading 1 - styled paragraph. That is what happens when you insert a Section Break at the beginning of a Heading 1 paragraph. It does not make the section break a part of the Heading 1 Style. That is no part of the problem presented here, though.
The paragraph mark immediately before the section break is a part of the TOC control which encompasses the TOC field and heading. |

If I place the insertion cursor next to the paragraph end mark where the section break resides, the Style toolbar on the Ribbon says “Heading 1”. If I then press the Del key, the section break is removed. If I go back to the same paragraph end mark, the Style toolbar on the Ribbon says “Normal”. The style of that paragraph got changed automatically by removing the section break on its own. I might be wrong but I see a link between the style of that paragraph and the “associated” section break.
