Gradually imposing order, beauty and readability on a document received from an external agency … and I want to create a character style that will apply an underline to the selected text; I specified the colour as 'automatic', because the underlying paragraph styles where the character style may occur use a range of different colours.
I hoped 'automatic' would pick up the text colour from the context, but apparently not: when I apply the new style to a word in a paragraph where the paragraph style specifies blue text, for example, the underlined text shows up not just underlined but also black. Hope there's something obvious I'm missing! thanks in advance for tips and pointers. |

"Automatic" refers to the text color in relation to the background shading color.
