Pressing Alt-F9 toggles a field's appearance between its code and result. For example:
{HYPERLINK"http://scistore.cambridgesoft.com/"} becomes: http://scistore.cambridgesoft.com/ or, if you have specified some display text, perhaps: SciStore.com

Depending on your keyboard, you may have to press Alt+FN+F9 rather than just Alt+F9 in order to show/hide field codes.

Maybe Open Ofice or Libre Office is the answer?

I'd try Alt+FN+F9 before learning a whole new program. :-) Or go to File > Options > Advanced and clear the check mark next to "Show field codes instead of their values."
In addition, clear the check mark next to "Print field codes instead of their values" (if it is selected).

Yes, you have the appropriate settings. Sorry if we seemed to be doubting you.
Can you post the actual document or a portion of it that contains the problem here? Remove any proprietary or confidential information first. How to attach a file in this forum. If the code is not responding to those settings, it is not a Word field but text or an image. Last edited by Charles Kenyon; 12-28-2019 at 07:26 PM. |

Like Charles, I suggest that you upload an example document which illustrates what you see.

I however found a neat bypass, so the problem does not bother me too much. |

Solved!
Gentlemen,
I found another option which solves the problem provided you pre-format the cells in excel to text. |

Once again, you're hijacking threads for discussions totally unrelated to the original content. Keep it up and I'll ban you from this board. Thread closed.
