After I insert a section break at the end of a page, the few words in the last line of that page are spread far apart to make the line justified. How do I get that line to return to normal spacing?

If that truly is the case and the paragraph is justified, highlight the paragraph and select Ctrl + L. That will left align the paragraph.
or, on the ribbon Home >> Paragraph >> Align Left |

Umm, I don't see how this would solve the problem, since the paragraph is supposed to be justified, not aligned left (the whole document is justified). The spacing was fine until I inserted a section break at the end of the line.

Every paragraph should end with a paragraph mark. You may have inadvertently ended that one with a section break instead. Can you show paragraph marks and verify that there is a paragraph mark between the text and the section break?

Could you show us a screen shot of what you are seeing? Remember to display nonprinting marks first; you can do that by clicking the ¶ icon on the Home tab.

Thank you, Andrew. No paragraph mark seems to have been the problem.
