Issues creating a restaurant menu in MS Word
Hi, I'm having difficulties creating a resturant menu. I have tried a number of methods and I still end up with same issue. The text on all the pages is off centre by approx. 10mm.
I created my own templates either by using a two column table and text boxes, also using a rectangular shape with text boxes. it is a simple A4 Landscape which will display 4 A5 pages. I downloaded a MS Word booklet template and amended the script and still the same issue. I have also changed printers. I tried centring the text using the alignment tool on the layout menu. On screen it is perfect but when printed the text is of centre. Last edited by Charles Kenyon; 01-12-2020 at 11:03 AM. Reason: Mark as solved |

Could you attach a copy of the file? It would make diagnosing the problem much easier.
How to attach a screenshot or file in this forum. Last edited by Charles Kenyon; 12-30-2019 at 12:32 PM. |

Maybe you could upload a screen shot that illustrates which kind of layout you are trying to achieve.
As a general rule, you shouldn't use text boxes if you can avoid it (which you usually can). A document set up with newspaper columns or tables will be a lot more easy to maintain.

If you have Publisher in your toolkit, it may be more appropriate for menu design.

hi thanks to all who replied, I tried a table, shapes and text boxes, and all looked perfect on screen. I drew on another two margins from the centre line on the A4 landscape and printed perfectly on my two printers. However when I took it to a commercial printer a lot of the text appeared in the wrong position. He advised this was a common problem and to save the document in PDF format as it locked in place all the info. It worked perfectly.
