when form protected can't tab to checkboxes
I have a form with mostly text fields and checkboxes. Tabbing works fine as long as the document is unprotected.
When I "restrict editing" to only allow form filling, tabbing through text fields is still fine. When I try to tab from a text field into a group of checkboxes, the active field goes to one checkbox (not the first) and then won't tab any further. I tried grouping, same thing happens. I tried legacy form controls, that didn't work at all. Thank you for your help! |

Checkboxes?
Checkbox Content Controls? Legacy Formfield Checkbox? Filling in Forms is the most restrictive method of protection and generally not suited to forms with Content Controls. |

With 'Filling in Forms' protection applied to a document using content controls, tabbing does not take you a content control checkbox - if they are to be used, you must click on them with the mouse. No form of protection is needed for a document using content controls but, if you must, you may find the 'No changes (read only)' protection with marked exceptions better suited to your needs.

A quick and easy method of protection that leaves content controls available is to select the entire document and Group it (Developer Tab).

You may find Insert Content Control Add-In useful. This has a function that will add 'editors' to all controls and protect the form as read only, which will allow tabbing between the controls. It also provides a function to lock all controls against accidental deletion.

grouping lets me tab to checkboxes!
Quote:
Charles, I would have sworn I'd tried this, but I just tried it again and it worked! I can't change the text outside the fields, and I can tab all the way through. You rock!! One confusing thing: there are two places in the text that the insertion point goes to when I tab, but I can't modify the text so I'm not going to worry about it. Thank you very much!! |
