Default Building blocks

Hello, I have a question about building blocks to be specific about categories.
Me and my team are using for example 40 quick parts in lets say 10 categories.

My question is can I somehow hide what is in categories (so only categories are visible) and show templates after clicking on category?

I do not understand your question.

You can store your building blocks in different templates and they would only be displayed when the template is either loaded as a global or is the attached template.
Where can Building Blocks be stored?

Note that "Quick Parts" is a name that does not have a clear referent in Word. It is the name of a menu that holds disparate features. It is also the name of a building blocks gallery.

Charles, I think the OP is asking if the gallery has an accordion (or flyout) type view where you firstly click on a category to see its contents. This can be useful because the preview of entries means each one takes up a lot of space and there is a lot of scrolling when you have 20+ entries.

I don't believe this is possible with a single building block gallery.

It is possible to build your own custom ribbon with dynamic ribbon menus & submenus but it is complicated and not something you might easily find online for free.

You can also use custom galleries with custom categories.

Dynamic ribbon menus are terrific, but not simple.

Also to look at is Graham Mayor's Boiler utility.

I'm pretty sure that Greg covers this in his page, but just in case:
You do not have to pay attention to the names on the custom galleries. I.e., the custom cover pages gallery can hold AutoText, as can the custom text boxes gallery.
