Default Keyboard shortcut for altering paragraph settings

Hello,

Does anyone know a keyboard shortcut to edit paragraph settings? I previously had Mac Word 2011 and used alt+cmd+m, but on the 2019 version (which I have had to buy following the Catalina update) it minimises the page.

I have not been able to find an up-to-date keyboard shortcut. I am heavily dyspraxic, and as such I rely on using Word in a very specific way.

Thank you

R

You can assign a shortcut to this.
I use Alt+p on the Windows version. I expect you could use Opt+p.

With Word open, if you press the Alt key, you will see what Word has already automatically assigned shortcut keys in yellow in the Ribbon and QAT. These characters are used in conjunction with the Alt key.
If you have a shortcut on the QAT – Quick Access Toolbar – for the Paragraph Settings, note what it says.
If not, you can add a shortcut and this then can be used by the mouse, or the keyboard characters it is given are used in conjunction with the Alt key to open the Paragraph Settings.
My example/video below shows how to add the Paragraph Settings via the QAT custom option and the Alt key then reveals the characters that have been assigned.

When you have the PS icon on the QAT – press the Alt key and release. Then press the first character key and release, then the press the second character key and release to open the Paragraph Settings.
Note: I have used in my example characters that are shown for me. Yours will be different.
If the PS icon shortcut is moved left/right, that’s up/down in the customize window, the characters assigned will change and you will need to use the changed characters.

Word for Mac is somewhat different to the Windows version in various areas, so my apologies if my advice is wrong in your Mac version.

Click the image below to see a short video of the above. I hope it helps you out.

The tips shown in yellow by Moonshine are not traditional keyboard shortcuts but tooltips for keyboard access to ribbon commands. If available on the Mac, they likely would be accessed using the Option key.

There is no built-in traditional keyboard shortcut to access the format paragraph dialog.

Default Thanks

Thank you everyone for your tips and suggestions. I was ultimately able to assign a new keyboard shortcut of CMD+Option+P. For some reason, the current shortcut (CMD+Option+M) minimised my window, which I imagine is a setting I have for my Mac in general.

Cheers,

RJ

I have used Alt+O,P for years and years. It still works (I'm using Office 365 at present), though it came from the v. 2003 menus.
