Default Inputing references in a table at the end of each section

Hi there, first post - very excited!

Anyhow, I'm writing a document where I'd like to note references in the main body using the format [1] (i.e. not superscript just normal text). At the end of every chapter there is a {chapterNumber}.{lastSectionNumber} section that has the title "Documentation". This is immediately followed by a table with the first column the reference numbers (again in the [1] format), second column the document number, and the third column the document title.

Hopefully this made sense. I've attached a document that shows very clearly what I'm after. Any thoughts?

As close as I can get would be to modify the Endnote Reference style and insert the brackets myself. Such a document is attached.

If you wanted to leave it until the end, you would be able to use a macro for the brackets.

Hey Charles, thanks for the quick reply. Is there no way to incorporate the reference in the confines of a table as my word document shows?

Nothing built into Word, no.

You can get a tabular layout by changing the Endnote Text style's tab setting.
4. Use Tables and Tabs to Arrange Text in Microsoft Word

This utilizes the Endnote feature which can be set for the end of each section and automatically numbers the notes, linking the number in the text to the note. There is not a Word table; there is a paragraph style that includes borders and bar tabs.

I went to college and started practicing law without word processing. I placed notes at the bottoms of pages and ends of documents on a typewriter. Any change and you re-did everything. You can do that here, if you want. A mid-point would be using cross-references, perhaps with SEQ fields for your numbering. Yes, you can do this.

Is it worth it for the difference? That is up to you.
