Maintaining Workspace From Comparing Documents
When comparing documents (on a large display?), the program will show the "Compared Document" in the middle of the display, and a "Original Document" window tiled above a "Revised Document" window on the right side of the display.
This is illustrated here: https://www.howtogeek.com/wp-content...mpWSSquPHf.png from this article: How to Use Microsoft Word’s Compare Feature There is very valuable functionality with this workspace. The problem is that when I save the 'Compared Document', close the program, and reopen the file, I am unable to have the right side windows ( "Original Document" window tiled above a "Revised Document") displayed at all. How do I turn that display back on? |

Re-run the original comparison.

It's a 100+ page document and I've made revisions/notes to the first third.

It isn't perfect, but it is what you need to do.
You can incorporate those notes in the new version if you want. |

Thank you Charles,... and to be clear you're saying that to the best of your knowledge there is no way to bring that workspace back?

That is correct. Note, though, I do not know everything. Someone else may know of a way.
You could ask that the ability to save the entire comparison workspace be added as a feature. UserVoice Word for Windows |
