If you are using the option to put a tab character after the number/bullet symbol, you can adjust the settings as follows in the Multilevel List dialog box:
  • The "Aligned at" option determines the position of the number/bullet symbol.
  • "Add tab stop at" determines the position of the text following the number/bullet symbol on the first line of the numbered/bulleted paragraph.
  • "Text indent at" determines the position of the second and subsequent text lines in the paragraph.
  • If you want a hanging indent, the value for "Text indent" should be identical to that of "Add tab stop at" (and the value should be larger than "Aligned at").
