If current text & new footnote won't both fit on page, how to control which gets shifted to nextpage
If a page is filled with text and later on a footnote gets added, MS Word makes a decision as to what gets shifted. From what I see, MS Word prioritizes keeping the entire footnote on the page where the call number for that footnote is. And to achieve that, it shifts the text lower down on the page over to the next page, so that the footnote can take up more space on the page with the call number.
However this is not always desirable.
For example, there is a page on which I have a chart. Above the chart is an introductory sentence with a footnote. The footnote is ten lines long, and to fit it on this page, MS Word is shifting half the chart onto the next page. But I want to keep the entire chart together as a complete chart on the current page, and use the small amount of space at the bottom of the page for the first two lines of the footnote. I want MS word to place the remaining eight lines of the footnote on the next page, at the bottom of the page under the footnote divider. How can this be done?
