uncheck Different first page option without losing its content
Hy!
I created a nice header with table and picture, but unfortunatelly before save the template I left Different first page option checked. Now if I uncheck this option I lose the header but I want to keep it and use this header for all document's pages, so is any posibility to do that ? I tried to copy the header before uncheck the option, then paste it back but I got a lot of formatting problems, so is posible to do that without copy/paste? |

The first-page header/footer is a separate thing from the general header/footer. If you uncheck "different first page" you hide the first-page header and footer.
You can copy the content of your first-page header and then uncheck the option. Paste what you just copied into the header. Header/Footer Settings Recap How can I get a different header/footer on the second page? Last edited by Charles Kenyon; 10-14-2019 at 02:02 PM. |

Hy!
As I wrote I tried to copy the header before uncheck the option, then paste it back but I got a lot of formatting problems, so I want to reuse the first page header for rest of pages by using "Same as previous" for header Section2(this is the second page) |

Sorry, it is likely that you'll have to reformat. I apologize for telling you that the way to do what you want is to do what you want to avoid doing.
The link to previous/same as previous setting refers to the equivalent header/footer in the previous Section of the document, not to a different header/footer in the same Section. You could try selecting the text in your first-page header and bookmarking the selection. Then insert a Cross-Reference in the principal header. I expect you will have the same problem, though. Take a look at my Header/Footer Settings Recap. The only way to get the same content in both parts is to copy the 1st-page header in some way, there are two separate document parts involved. Their contents are both in the same Section formatting, but they are not otherwise linked. If your formatting were done using Styles, this would probably be a piece of cake. Importance of Styles in Word Aside: It is surprising to me that you can have a reference to a bookmark in an inactive header, but I tested it before posting this. |
