Difficulty uploading a custom dictionary for spellchecker in msw 365
I have a subscription to Office 365 and I have also downloaded The Office 365 application on my Windows 7 computer. I would like to know how to upload a custom dictionary into Microsoft Word 365?
I tried uploading Office 365 custom dictionary and I believe I did so successfully by placing the file where it belongs however when I put in technical terms into a new MS word 365 document it did not successfully autocorrect any technical terms so it seems to me that I was unsuccessful in properly uploading my custom dictionary. FYI, I uploaded a custom file consisting of Microsoft Word document consisting of 30 pages of technical terms however I may have uploaded the incorrect file type I'm not sure what's going on perhaps you could help thank you in advance. |

First, AutoCorrect and a dictionary file are different things.
See Mastering the Spelling Checker by Suzanne Barnhill, MVP. How is your custom dictionary file constructed. I haven't looked into them for more than a decade. My recollection is that such files are simple text lists of words that are in alphabetical order and to which a .dic filename extension is applied. Again, they have nothing to do with AutoCorrect really. It is possible to add things to AutoCorrect in bulk as well. |
