Win 8.1 (64) Word 2013 PDF Conversion would not embed ArialMT although it was not in the document
TL; DR: LibreOffice removes unnecessary font not used when converting to pdf.
I worked on a document in both my government office (Win and Office unknown because Sunday but 8 or higher and 2013 or higher) and home (8.1 home 64, Word 2013). When converting to pdf, ArielMT would always show up as an included but non-embeded font. I couldn't work around this because the USPTO, in its infinite wisdom, insists that you embed all fonts, even common fonts, in every pdf. So, I ctrl-A'd the document and could not reset the font. Tried copying to Notepad as plain text, re-copy-and-paste, didn't work, tried clearing formatting, did not work, tried other settings nothing worked, tried advanced find, could not find a single instance of Ariel in the document. Went to other home computer, opened with LibreOffice, converted to pdf ... and ArielMT was gone. File now acceptable. Thank you, free software, for fixing what MS would not. |
