Default Controls for listing styles

Doing a lot of reformatting these days, so the style box pretty much stays open.

Sometimes, if an object has a style applied and then is modified, when you select the object, the base style is highlighted in the style box, with an asterisk to indicate that it has been modified.

Other times, the style box displays the base style, with a separate style indicating the modification: "Body text + Calibri", for instance.

How do I control how the styles are listed? I would much prefer the first option.

Cool

OK, I figured it out:

The "Select formatting to show as styles" checkboxes on the Style Pane Options box.

Also, I made a mistake in my initial description--objects with a base style plus a modification don't display with an asterisk; I was thinking of Adobe FrameMaker.
