Default Text style in fillable form

I'm encountering a strange issue. I've created a fillable form with rich text and plain text content controls. The font formatting is set to use no style under properties. When I use the locked form and hit enter to create a new line, the font style changes to small caps. Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

I'm using Word 2016.

Thanks in advance for any help.

There is no such thing as "no style" in Word. I assume the controls are set to not require a particular style.

In the paragraph with the content control, check the definition of the style that is applied. What is the setting for the style for the following paragraph?

it's set to use default paragraph style, which is plain text. Attached image shows what I'm seeing. It's really strange and only appears after I break to the next line. Same happens whether I use plain text control or rich text. The style is similar to "book style" text, but the text control field does not have that style applied to it. I don't know where it comes from.

Actually, figured out where the style was coming from. The table heading was set to use Book Title style and somehow the content was inheriting that style, but only after a carriage return/new line was started in the field. All I had to do was change the table heading style and it now everything works fine.
