Backspacing to change formatting?

Somehow I messed up my Word settings and I don't know how to fix them.

Used to be that when I was using centered justification, then hit enter to go to the next line, Word would put my cursor in the middle of the row (i.e. still centered). I could then just hit backspace to go to left justification. Now, when I hit backspace, it just moves me up to the right end of the previous line. It's making me crazy! Funny how you get used to these little things.



Any tips?

Try to have a look at your horizontal ruler and tabulators, that might do the trick.
