Nothing has changed in Word - the startup folder is where I indicated in my earlier reply however it doesn't load documents from links in that folder only global templates. The Workgroup folder's usefulness has largely been downgraded, but it is still available if configured. Again it doesn't do what you suggest. See Template locations
