Default Footnote reference numbers precede by superscript '(' and follow w/ superscript ')'

I wish to set a global setting so that each reference number superscript will be preceded by superscript '(' and followed by superscript ')'.

I have been searching for both of these online for an hour. The only thing I found is this reference, which shows how to do a find and replace of superscript FN number, with an un-superscripted one, followed by a period. This may perhaps be able to adapted to my needs somehow? Need some guidance on this...
