how to get Word to automatically re-number the headings when a new on is added
Hi everyone. I have Word 2010 and Windows 7.
I'm writing a very long essay and having trouble with heading numbers. I use chapter title, heading 1 and heading 2. When I insert a new heading, say heading 2, into the body of the text, I number it 8.4, say, if the previous heading 2 in chapter 8 was 8.3. But this means that all the following such headings in chapter 8 are mis-numbered. How do I get word to automatically re-number the headings in that chapter to bring them all into line? Thanks in advance. Laurence |

You are welcome.
I recommend bookmarking it. This is the only way to have stable multi-level list numbering in Word. |
