Word writing {PAGE} instead of inserting page number
Hi all,
As above - I'm using Word for Mac, version 16.26. It has recently started behaving strangely - saying {PAGE} at the bottom of the page when I want to insert page numbers. If I type a page number into those brackets, it uses the same number on all pages. It has also started presenting links strangely, again with the curly brackets, saying {HYPERLINK} instead of just the link. Does anyone know how I can stop this? I've attached a page which shows these problems. |

File - Options - advanced
under "show document content" uncheck the box for "show field codes instead of their values" Press ok |

Thanks Kilroy. I fell at the first hurdle, though, as there's no 'options' option under my file menu.
I've tried searching for 'field codes' and found a field option under Insert, but that doesn't seem to help. Do you know if there's another way to get to this? |

In Word for Mac, open Word → Preferences → View and uncheck the “Field codes instead of values” box in the “Show in Document” area.
