Default Strange character in text copied from excel

I hope you can help with this problem. I copie a large amount of Tagnumbers from an Excel sheet in a Word table. In Word two extra characters show up. The are not printed and also not visable if I hide lay out. But if I copy the tagnumber from Word and paste it in the search field in the Excel sheet were is was retrieved from, Excel cannot find the number anymore. Please see attached file were I marked the character yellow. The excel sheet is an export from Autocad Plant 3D and the character shows on positions left blank. What is the character and why the content changes when it is copied?

Strange... I see what you're talking about I also see that if I try to copy the full text over and over, the mystery characters disappear when pasted. Maybe just copying from Word, and paste back into Word will clean the text(?)

Also, be sure that you're experimenting with the 'Paste as text' feature of Word.

I copied it in Word as text and the character disapears. But what bothers me is that I cannot find the Tagnumber in the excelsheet anymore. Which means that the content also changes when copied from Excel to Word.

Have a look at Word’s nonprinting formatting marks
Excerpt from the paragraphs devoted to “Spaces” (near bottom of page):
Quote:
The characters circled on the Special Characters tab in the screen shot above produce symbols that may be puzzling.
The character that Word calls “No-Width Optional Break” corresponds to the Unicode character 200C, “Zero Width Non-Joiner.” Both this character and U200B, “Zero Width Space,” are represented by a rectangle enclosing an open rectangle:

The character that Word calls “No-Width Non Break” is Unicode character 200D, “Zero Width Joiner,” which is represented as a rectangle enclosing a filled rectangle:

One wonders why the Tagnumber in the excel sheet would have these characters...

Because the Tagnumber can have more characters. These positions are left blank in Autocad. That happens during export to excel. We don't know what happens there.

In that case, it seems to me you have four main options:
1. Leave things as they are.
2. Modify your Autocad export process so the unwanted characters aren't included in the output.
3. Remove the unwanted characters in Excel before doing the transfer to Word.
4. Remove the unwanted characters in Word only.
