Delete Formatting Ribbon - Word 2007?
I have no use for the formatting ribbon in Word. However, I had 2003 setup with a custom toolbar that ran a series of macros to bring up a document from a template, insert date, and leave it ready for me to do a mail merge for the recipient's data. I bought and installed 2007 and find that the toolbar area is consumed by an oversized formatting ribbon that can't be removed and doesn't seem to allow me to create the custom toolbar that I need.
What the hell was MS thinking when they removed the ability to fully customize Word? It makes me think that the order from on high was to make changes without regard as to whether they were actually beneficial as long as they were changes. It frustrates me to no end! A formatting ribbon that can't be removed. Now, there's a brilliant %*#king idea. If I could, I would fire the guy that came up with this one and everyone that signed off on it. I've removed 2007 and gone back to 2003 so that I can get my work done. I'm money out and pissed as hell.
