Default Protect document but leave certain sections unprotected.

I've created a Word document using Text Form Fields. It's currently fully protected using the Protect Form option in the Developer tab.

I now need to have a section in the middle of the document (a cell in a table) unprotected so that the user can paste in a graphic.

Some extra information that may help/hinder:
  • I'm getting confused between Protect Form in the Developer tab and Protect in the Review tab.
  • I've read about inserting a section break; however, that seems to insert a blank line resulting in nudging the content down slightly and messing up my formatting.
  • I'm on Mac 2016.

Thanks

Since you want a section in the middle of the document, you have to insert two section breaks, one at the start and one at the end of the range where you want your section.

To see the section breaks more easily, choose to show nonprinting marks.

With the "Filling in forms" type of protection, you can deselect the "middle" section so that it is left unprotected. Note, however, that many actions are not allowed, even in an unprotected section in a protected document.

Personally, I'm not using a Mac, but the commands you mention
